Everyone’s dream these days is to make it big and make a name for themselves right? Well, in today’s society that requires almost all of your time and effort, but that’s rather hard to do when your dream doesn’t make you any money yet and you have to work a full time job just to like eat and pay an absurd amount of rent for a shitty apartment (Welcome to Toronto).
Because I work a full time job as a billing coordinator for an HVAC company (riveting I know) I don’t necessarily have the time to growth hack and grow my online community and brand, so I’ve had to outsource. I have hired numerous marketing companies and worked with growth accounts on instagram, and I feel like I’ve learnt enough at this point to let you guys know what to go for and what to avoid.
What to AVOID:
- Never, and I repeat NEVER pay an instagram account to feature your picture on their page. I’ve done this on numerous beauty and fashion accounts that have reached out to me saying that having them repost some of my pictures will increase my following since those accounts had like 50k plus followers. I’ve done this a few times hoping it would get somewhere and I can honestly tell you that NO GROWTH happens this way. The majority of these accounts followers are fake to begin with so they are really just marketing your pictures to bots. Please save your money and do not do this.
What to look for:
- I know this sounds scary, but give your account information to a trusted marketing source and have them take care of your account for you. I know it sounds strange, but these companies will follow people for you, comment and like for you, and do all the necessary growth hacking techniques that are needed to grow an account without you having to do any of the work. In just less than a month, I’ve increased my following by the 100’s without really breaking the bank.
- I use two sources, one is called ‘The Social Shop” and the other is called “Digital Prezence”. They both bill be on a monthly basis and I can opt out whenever I feel like it is necessary. So far neither has let me down and I’ve only seen good growth since I’ve hired them! It’s all a process and it takes time, nothing happens over night.
I will keep everyone posted with how these marketers turn out!
Instagram has really cracked down on using services like these. Apparently it goes against their community guidelines, and I’ve been banned from liking, commenting and following on numerous occasions because I’ve been using these services…so I’ve had to stop. And truthfully my following didn’t grow that significantly so I definitely don’t think these services are worth it anymore…Oh well we live and we learn LOL. I have to find other ways of growing now. I’ve recently sponsored a giveaway that is happening mid August, so I’m hopeful that tactic works out.
